Being a GUESS girl is big deal for me: Priyanka

Priyanka Chopra is the first Bollywood actress to become the face of global fashion brand GUESS, and the actress considers it a big deal.

"Being a GUESS girl for me is a really big deal because the most iconic beautiful women have been part of these campaigns. It's one of the most iconic brands in the world," the 31-year-old said here Friday at a GUESS store where she was unveiled as the new GUESS girl.

"When I went to New York this time, to pick up the magazines and saw Julia Roberts in the front and myself on the back, I was like 'woah'," she added.

International singer Bryan Adams shot Priyanka for the campaign and she reveals "When they first told me that Bryan was shooting it, I thought there must be some other person by the same name."

"I couldn't think that somebody is so talented to be a singer and a photographer. But then I found out that he has done a lot of campaigns for GUESS. They showed me the pictures of one of their most recent campaigns. And Bryan knew of me and I knew of Bryan. He comes to India so often that he is now half Indian," Priyanka said.

Priyanka, who went international with her singing talent by launching her first single "In my city", had released her second single "Exotic" a few months back. She is now working on her third song.

On the Bollywood front, she will soon be seen in Yash Raj Films' new project "Gunday" with Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh.

Ramya at 31: Actress-turned-youngest MP

A pictorial bouquet to Ramya
Whether it’s films, her volatile relationship with her co-stars, political views or her personal life, Divya Spandana aka Ramya is, without doubt, controversy’s child.

As she turns 31 on November 29, Kannada actress and politician Ramya has the distinction of being the youngest Member in the current Parliament, representing Karnataka’s Mandya constituency.  Her nomination in the assembly by-poll earlier this year took political observers by surprise. For, while the actress joined the Youth Congress in 2011, she continued to be busy with her film career and hadn’t been too politically active

Her first step into the electoral fray turned out like a scene from a film for Ramya; minutes after she filed her nomination, her foster father, R T Narayan, collapsed after a massive heart attack and passed away. A grieving Ramya hit the campaign trail, while the opposition went on a mud-slinging spree, questioning her parentage. The actress won by a margin of 45,000-plus votes, and some sections attributed it to a sympathy wave.

Shedding the glamour she exuded in films and on the page 3 circuit, Ramya assumed the role of young politician and entered parliament.  It seemed like bye-bye to films. “Other actors enter politics when their film careers are waning, but I’m still on top,” Ramya said in a newspaper interview.  She indicated also that it was the possible end of her film career.  “As an MP I can’t be seen running around trees in short skirts,” she said.

Ramya’s decision to quit acting sent producers who had signed her and whose films were unfinished into a tizzy.  Earlier this month, she allotted a few days for the Shivrajkumar film ‘Aryan’ to finish her talkie portions.  But the team of ‘Neerdose’, particularly it’s hero, Jaggesh, have gone to the media, accusing Ramya of letting them down. Last heard, the actress-MP has agreed to complete the film, but whenever she finds the time.

In her decade-long career in South Indian films – she made her debut with the Kannada film ‘Abhi’ in 2003 – Ramya has had several run-ins with industry folks.  There was a very public spat with the producer of her 2011 film, ‘Dhandam Dashagunam’ after which a frustrated Ramya had announced she was quitting Kannada films.  Her volatile relationship with co-star Sudeep during the making of ‘Just Maath Maathalli’ also made news. Ramya has also taken on choreographers and, most recently, some film journalists for taking photos of her without permission.

While some say the actress is impetuous, she prefers to see herself as outspoken and forthright. Despite the troubles she’s had in Sandalwood, Ramya has done good enough work to be described as the ‘Golden Girl of Kannada Films’. She’s won ‘Best Actress’ awards for ‘Amruthadhaare’, ‘Thananam Thananam’ and, more recently, the 2011 film ‘Sanju Weds Geetha’ which was a commercial hit as well. ‘Mussanje Mathu’ and ‘Sidlingu’ were her other notable performances.

In other languages, Ramya made her debut in Tamil in ‘Kutthu’, earning her the nickname ‘Kutthu Ramya’ and went on to feature in ‘Polladhavan’, opposite Dhanush, in which she also reverted to her original name Divya Spandana. She featured also in Gautham Menon’s sentimental ‘Vaaranam Aayiram’ and the 2011 film ‘Singam Puli’.

At 30-plus, Ramya is single and is, according to the gossip columns, dating Portuguese guy, Raphael.  Rumours of impending marriage keep cropping up, too, but Ramya is dismissive of them. She’s had several not-so-private relationships in the past as well.  With no time for films, we’ll have to wait and see when she finds time for marriage, in the midst of her political career.

“In my life, nothing I planned happened,” Ramya said in a recent interview to The Times of India. As actress, politician and girl about town, Divya Spandana aka Ramya, certainly has a life that’s not in the least bit ordinary. Here’s wishing her a very happy 31st birthday!

Venkatadri Express Movie Review

So, there it is! The day belongs to Venkatadri Express! The movie, which has created a special buzz right from the day of its theatrical trailer release has finally hit the screens! Let us go through the review whether audience can catch Venkatadri express or afford missing the train.
Story: A simple story about one night. Introduction goes over with voice-over by Allari Naresh in a funny way. Coming to the story part, Nagineedu plays the character of a strict father who spares no mistake and if you, being his family member commits 100th mistake, you are sent out of the home! Brahmaji plays the role of elder son while hero is the younger one. A family trip for the occasion of Brahmaji’s marriage is the main plot of the story. Hero misses the train and commits his 100th mistake. What happens next becomes the rest.
Performances: Hero has done very well. Improvement can be witnessed clearly. Nagineedu remains as usual while Comedy performances by Brahmaji, Tagubothu Ramesh, etc. have been the oxygen for the film. Heroine is just okay.
Positives:
  • Unique story plot
  • Comedy
Negatives:
  • Flaws in establishment of story well initially
  • Some songs
Box Office performance: With no releases this week, Venkatadri Express is sure stealing the show. It is the biggest hit in Sundeep’s career next to his recent hit “Routine Love Story”. Entertainment Guarenteed!!
Special Mention: Director needs a special mention in the review. When every love story is going the same way, he made sure that he has got enough grip over the script while choosing a unique story blended with family emotions as well as fun!
Review: 3.25/5

Sisters, It is Time to STOP Giving Birth to Men Who Hate You.

In this letter, my use of “you” means you, me, all of us.

This letter, sister, is from someone who is sitting, not-so-quietly observing, and taking notes as I look upon angry black men all over the internet making videos and blog posts about how how ugly you are. How unworthy you are of love.  How disgusting you look in your hairstyles and clothes.  How no man in his right mind could stand to tolerate you more than one night (and it better be in the dark, with a bag over your head).
These men are the babies you birthed, the boys you loved and spoiled, the young men you wrangled with, who grew up with you at the helm of the household, mostly without their fathers.
And they hate you for it.
The chickens have come home to roost as the wave of “I can be both mother and father to my son!” has reached it’s peak. It’s the results we’ll continue to see as 80% black women of all social and economic strata are having their first children unmarried and unprotected.
They hate you because you are there. They hate you because you’re the one who stayed and struggled, no doubt made some mistakes (hey, we all do) and found yourselves impotent and incompetent in all things “man” related–an essential and necessary factor for boys to grow into men. The husband you married when he was 15 was probably too late to truly make a difference, and even if he did, your son will always have a hole in his heart for the father who never was.
But because you were there, and shielded him from death and starvation, gave him comfort and kisses, he can’t show his anger towards you. You will always be highly esteemed. He’ll praise and sing odes of “mama” and beat anyone to a pulp if they say anything against you. So what does your son do with all that anger? He takes it out on every single woman that looks like you. He wants to call you fat and ugly and unwanted. He wants to say that you’re too black and nappy headed to be beautiful. You must be all of those things, because if you weren’t maybe his father would have thought you were worth sticking around for. He wants to say you ain’t worth shit, but he can’t, so he says it to us.
Now that the man-boy that you raised has the body of an adult, he has no idea what he wants. He wants to be the man he never saw growing up, and he might as well be eight years old trying on his grandfather’s old suit. He is not equipped. He expresses his manhood in the basest and most primal way, out of instinct and desire for dominance. He will have Herculean expectations of you as a partner–you must work full time, come home and clean and cook, fuck him like a porn star at three in the morning, support him in every decision he makes no matter how idiotic, tolerate gross disrespect. To be a man is to pump and dump the worthless, unlovable and ugly black women he despises, and if he leaves a few babies in his wake, so what? He’ll make claims that he’ll be around for the child, but that bitch ain’t getting his money. He’ll be there for the birth and bring you, the grandmother, along to fawn, and within five years he’ll be gone, and maybe show up for sporadic weekends and day trips to Disneyland. But he’ll leave you to do all the heavy lifting, and that son you raise will grow up and hate you, us, too.
You birthed him, but he hates you, because it’s just easier. These men who hate you and all of us will disguise their venom about how our “attitudes” and “hair hats” and obesity make us undesirable to all races (so don’t even bother going on pages like Beyond Black & White because you’re just a thirsty black bitch and don’t you know nobody wants you?). He’ll tell you that his verbal barbs are done out of love, because he wants you to do better. He’ll even say that while he spits on you, he really only dates and mates with black women so that’s proof that he does, right? Pleasing him will always be a moving target because you are not meant to “win,” only run on that hamster wheel, frenetically and breathlessly, only to go no where. And when the relationship fails, the men who dog you tell you that you needed to choose better, while having no desire themselves to BE better. They want us to make THEM better, all the while knowing that we can not. We can not rebirth was has already been birthed. We can not recreate what has already been created.
And so many of us want so much to please him, because after all, he is our son. The baby we birthed. The boy we comforted and kissed. The young man we wrangled with. We don’t want to believe that we raised a monster.
But we did.
Clearly the damage is done, but what can we do? We can’t abort several generations of black men who despise us. But we can guard our wombs against the another legion of black-woman hating monsters, and yes sisters, we DO have the power. Stop birthing these haters of black women, these fire-breathing soul killers. Demand more, and yes; choose better. But don’t choose from the less rotten of a bushel full of rotten apples and hope it won’t make you sick. Demand to see all the fruit–the apples, the oranges, the plums, the strawberries, and amongst them, pick the ripest and freshest, and sweetest.
And haters, are you mad? Guess how many shits I give.

When Malaika Arora Khan, Karan Johar had trouble mouthing Urdu

Malaika Arora Khan, who will be seen judging India's Got Talent's new season, had a tough time pronouncing some Urdu words while shooting for a promo.

While co-judge Karan Johar kept on fumbling with the word ‘umda’ and asked for several retakes. Laughing off his errors, he said, “Umda bol bol ke kahin actual promo shoot main anda na bol dun. On-air bhi wahi chala jaayega phir.” Malaika, on the other hand, was overheard struggling with the word ‘naayaab’.

'Jackpot' does not require censorship: Sunny Leone

The censor board has axed "Eggjactly" from being used in Sunny Leone starrer "Jackpot". However the Indo-Canadian adult film star says it is a family film and doesn't "require censorship".

The 32-year-old, who has shot some bold scenes for the movie, admits that it's censor board's job to see what's suitable for young adults to watch.

At the same time, she feels that "Jackpot" "is not an A-certificate movie. So, they have to be really careful on what the subject matter is."

`But I don't think there is anything in the movie that requires censorship. It's a very nice family movie that everyone can watch," added the actress who entered Bollywood with erotic thriller "Jism 2".

She was speaking at the music launch of the film Saturday.

Meanwhile, director Kaizad Gustad is upset with the censor board for banning "Eggjactly", by Javed Jaffrey.

"It's unnecessary. I don't understand why the song has been banned - it's funny and there is humour in it. It is not anything personal it is about the whole country. He (Javed) has not attacked any one person," Gustad said.

"The censor board should have some sense of humour. It's just a funny song and he has not offended anybody. He has been very careful to avoid personal attacks," Gustad added.

The film's actor-producer Sachiin Joshi feels he is being targeted.

"I seriously think it's somebody's ploy against me and I am being targeted," he said reacting to the ban on the song.

"Jackpot" has been shot in Goa and also stars Naseeruddin Shah. It hits theatres Dec 13.

Too Close for Comfort: Bollywood divas and their obsessive fans

It is not just glitz and glamour for actresses. They have to also deal with a rather uncomfortable factor -- obsessive fans

Shruti Haasan had to recently lodge a police complaint against a fan-turned-stalker. In B-Town, one doesn't always have to be as famous as the Khans or the Kapoors to experience that. Even the young actresses encounter hyper admirers in their day-to-day outing. HitList spoke to few of them to know more...

Amrita Rao
Last film: Singh Saab the Great
Quote unquote:
`I don't remember being stalked harmfully except for this one fan from Nashik who came and stood outside my house for days. He also managed to get my landline number somehow and had vowed not to leave Mumbai until he gifted me this guitar he apparently bought from his pocket money. Tired of the situation, my dad picked up his call and got a meeting arranged. Luckily, when his wish was fulfilled, he left. Being stalked in today's world with the technology seems like a scary thought.`

Mugdha Godse
Last film: Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns
Quote unquote:
`I've had quite a few incidents but the weirdest amongst it all was this one guy who knew all the important dates and days in my life and would somehow manage to reach me with the most expensive of gifts wherever I was. Initially, I was surprised but later it got quite awkward because I wouldn't like to accept something from a total stranger and to add to it how did he ever get to know my whereabouts was scary. It got a little jittery when he started to profess his love for me and was hell bent I accept it. Eventually I had to seek some help to put an end to it. Incidents like that freak you out.`

Oh Oh! Sunny's raunchiness may fetch 'A' certificate for 'Jackpot'

Well it is quite weird even to think that despite presences of a sizzling seductress and that too of Sunny Leone's stature a movie will not have something too hot to tolerate.

If recent buzz pertaining to Sunny Leone, Sachiin Joshi starrer Jackpot are to be believed then probably censor has made its mind to give an 'A' certificate to the movie.

Reports further suggest that 'Jackpot' contains a huge dose of raunchiness, where too many steamy scenes are picturised on Sunny and Sachin and it's because of one of these scenes, where Sunny has gone topless, that movie may get an A certificate.

After having a major tug of war with Javed Jaffry over one of the songs Eggjactly, which was later removed from the movie, now this wrath of censor's scissor is going to be a major blow for the makers who are already concerned over the issue because, if 'Jackpot' is assigned with "for adult" tag then the movie may loose a major flock of its audience.

Although those associated with the movie are saying that 'Jackpot' is all about humor and doesn't have anything inapt in it, but if we look at the hind side then Kaizad Gustad who literally shook the grapevine with his previous movie "Boom" at-least knows that how to cash upon the sensuality of sizzler like Sunny, so there remains no doubts about the fact that Jackpot is going to be high on prurient front.

Salman's kindness meant a lot to me: Elli

Bollywood aspirant Elli Avram of Swedish-Greek origin, who has been eliminated from the ""Bigg Boss - Saath 7" house, can't hide her gratitude for the warmth that the reality show's host and Bollywood star Salman Khan's extended to her.

"I don't know why he was so nice to me. He is a big superstar. And his kindness meant a lot to me," said Elli, who was evicted Saturday.

"I think he sensed that I was all alone in 'Bigg Boss' house. The only foreigner. He helped me feel comfortable in 'Bigg Boss' by just the way he spoke to me. Of course, I soon became comfortable in there. I've learnt a lot of Hindi in there," she added.

She comes away from Bigg Boss with a good feeling about most of the inmates.

"My friends say, I find everyone to be good and likeable. But I can't help it. I don't have unkind thoughts about anyone inside the 'Bigg Boss' house."

"Yes, there were stressful moments and ugly scenes with some of them. But it was soon okay," she added.

"If you ask me, who my special friends are I'd say Hazel Keech. She was the first to leave Bigg Boss house. But during her last three days in the House we really bonded very very well. Hazel is someone I'd like to meet again now that I'm out of the house," she said.

Another close friend Elli has come away with is Ratan Rajput.

"She sent me a sari for Diwali and I wore it for my farewell episode on 'Bigg Boss'. I hope Ratan was watching," said Elli who is also fond of Sangram Singh and VJ Andy.

Ranveer receiving sexy messages from girls

Actor Ranveer Kapoor, after the success of his 'Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram Leela,' is receiving explicit messages from girls, who appear to have fallen in love with him.

Talking to reporters Ranveer says that even men are messaging him seeking guidance how to build-up his kind of sexy body. Asked about the sudden attention he is getting the 28 year old hero says that he is on cloud 9. The movie was a hard one and it drained lot out of me, but now with all the glitter and fanfare around him he feels comfortable that hard work has been rewarded. Ranveer explains that after the release of the movie all the attention has now diverted to the product and people are not focusing on his personal life.

Does it mean that Ranveer has become more diplomatic after his `Loveria` comment annoying co-star Deepika Padukone? He says I have learnt to be little tactful after the incident.

Fashion Spotting

Bipasha Basu
Bipasha kills it in a short Marks & Spencer number. The messy hairdo and coral lips stole the show. The pearl neckpiece could have been avoided, miss!

Deepika Padukone

DP looks classy and vintage in this Dolce & Gabbana lace top. She paired it with high-waist tube pants. The flat jacquard pumps were a misfit here. The updo and matte makeup, we like.

Kangana Ranaut

Kangana's Christian Dior number fails to excite us! The dress is a bit too flirty for a promotional event. We like the hairdo and light makeup.

Our film will be special: Deepika on Salman

Riding high on the success of her latest release 'Ram Leela', Deepika says she hasn't been approached for a film opposite Salman as yet but is looking forward to working with the superstar

Mumbai: Actress Deepika Padukone is yet to share screen space with Salman Khan, but says whenever they will do a film together, it will be a "special" one.

"I want to work with Salman. I am really looking forward to work with him. Whenever Salman and I will come together, it will be a special film," Deepika, who made her Bollywood debut with Shah Rukh Khan-starrer 'Om Shanti Om', told us.

There are rumours that Deepika will be seen with Salman in Sooraj Barjatya's next film, but she says she hasn't been approached for the film.

"The reports are not true. I have not been approached for the film," said the actress, who is riding high on the success of 'Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela'

'Krrish 3' sets new record, earns Rs 228.23cr in fortnight

Beating 'Chennai Express' lifetime record of 226 crores, Hrithik Roshan's 'Krrish 3' amassed a massive 228.23 cr in just 15 days

Mumbai: Rakesh Roshan's superhero offering 'Krrish 3' has become the grosser of all times by earning Rs. 228.23 crores in just 15 days.

Confirming this, the film's director-producer Rakesh Roshan said, "This Friday's collections were Rs.2.44 crore, which brings the total 15-day collection to Rs.228.23 crore. So yes, it looks like 'Krrish 3' has broken all records."

He added, "Records are made to be broken. We are happy that the merit and power of 'Krrish' has been endorsed in just 15 days. And in such a short span of time our film has begun a journey of setting new records. God has been kind."

'Krrish 3' took the story forward with Hrithik Roshan in the title role. This time it was about the big bad world of the dark power brokers who want to rob our earth of all its beauty.

Analysing the record-breaking success of 'Krrish 3', trade expert Taran Adarsh said, "The large number of screens and the ticket rates have definitely helped 'Krrish 3' to undertake its record-breaking journey. But eventually everything boils down to the quality of the content. If the script is solid, there's no stopping a film. Also, it must be kept in mind that if a film is to be a universal hit, it must cater to a universal audience."

Kangana Ranaut and Vivek Oberoi joined the cast this time, while Priyanka Chopra reprised her role as Hrithik's love interest on the screen.

Trade pundit Amod Mehra said, "Records are meant to be broken. With every new record, film stars are asking for more money. Exhibitors too are getting greedy. They keep increasing the ticket rates. Let's see what strategy 'Dhoom 3' adopts."

Soha Ali Khan wears a bikini for 'Mr Joe B Carvalho'

Her mother, veteran actress Sharmila Tagore, created a sensation when she donned a bikini for a magazine’s photo shoot in the ’60s. Considered a trendsetter in her days, she wore a blue swimsuit in her film, An Evening In Paris, in 1967. Apparently she had no qualms about wearing a two-piece for the film, but was told to settle for a one-piece instead.

Four decades later her actress daughter Soha follows in her footsteps, by featuring in a bikini for her upcoming film, Mr Joe B Carvalho.

This is the first time that Soha has stepped out in a bikini in her nine-year-old film career. The actress told director Samir Tiwari that she would wear a two-piece from her personal collection and zeroed down on a blue bikini -- blue being her favourite hue -- the colour of royalty.

Says Soha, “I haven’t been in a swimming pool in any of my films, so the need to wear a swimwear did not arise earlier. For this one, I was given the choice between a swimsuit and a bikini and I chose the latter. It is part of my personal wardrobe.”
She adds, “I love water and I swim a lot, so I was not uncomfortable during the shoot. As it was a first for me, I was a bit nervous about the aesthetics of it and was insistent it should not be crass or crude, but look effortless and natural and that’s what we have got.”
Interestingly, the actress did not put in any extra effort to tone up her body for the shot.

Did Salman meet Iulia in Romania?

Salman Khan was in Romania recently to shoot a song for his upcoming film, Jai Ho, along with his leading lady Daisy Shah. It looks like during the brief schedule of the film, the star might have managed to meet his estranged Romanian girlfriend, actress and TV presenter Iulia Vantur.

A source from the unit says, “Salman and his crew spent almost a week in Romania to shoot a romantic number. He also met Iulia.”

The buzz about Sallu and Iulia began last year when she was spotted with him. He apparently struck a friendship with her during his visit to Romania last year and when she visited India, Iulia reportedly stayed in his house.

Later, she was spotted during the Hyderabad schedule of Jai Ho with him on his sets and on shopping trips. She would also sport his charity T-shirts to show her loyalty towards him. The rumour was that Salman was keen to tie the knot with Iulia but his family was against the idea. Later, she went back to her country, apparently after an amicable break-up. In an online interaction with his friends, Salman had revealed recently that he is still friends with her.
So, when Salman visited Romania, it seemed obvious that he would try and catch up with Iulia. According to a unit member, “Salman is quite popular in Romania. The video of him checking into a hotel has gone viral. A lot of fans would gather around the shoot location to catch a glimpse of him.”
Will this visit rekindle a romance? Let’s wait and watch.

OMG! After bathtub, now Sherlyn caught between the sheets

Well it looks like after witnessing the catastrophic fate, with which Poonam's debut movie "Nasha" had a rendezvous, Sherlyn has taken her share of learning. And what made us think so is, this sex goddess' running from pillar to post, in order to keep the hype about her upcoming movie alive.

By some of her recent stances on social media Sherlyn has once again proved that she's in no manner going to allow her fans to loose their interest in her and her much hyped cine flick.

After doing a "Madakani act" in the recent past for one of the Kamasutra 3 D posters where she donned a white sari, in somewhat similar to latter's "Ram Teri Ganga avatar, while sitting on a tree branch. Now Sherlyn has further attempted to soar the temperature by going nude between the sheets. And as usual she has done it so smartly, that this antic of hers just adds to fantasy and curiosity of her fans, without satiating them in any manner.

If recent reports pertaining to Sherlyn's popularity on social media are to be believed then her fan following on Twitter has crossed eleven lakhs and this is an almost ten times increase in two months.

Just a few days back in one of her mercury soaring gimmicks Sherlyn also attempted to tickle the libidinal chord of her fans by posting the pics in which she was seen taking a dip in the bath tub.

Good going Sherlyn, although it is hard to prophesies about the fate of your upcoming movie, but one thing which is fore-sure by now is that, you certainly masters the art of playing with men's fantasy.
